JS Bannister Tortoise

The JS Bannister was inspired by Sir Roger Bannister, who is most known for his athletic accomplishments as a mid-distance runner and for being the first person to break the 4-minute mile barrier. His unconventional and relatively light training regiment made him an unlikely success in the sport, which he set many records. In addition to his athletic achievements, Bannister practiced medicine as a neurologist and made various contributions to the field throughout his lengthy career.

The JS Bannister Tortoise boasts a classic Italian tortoise frame with yellow gold accents. The matte finish produces a humble yet sophisticated look, and polarized brown lenses complement the amber frame to create a well-coordinated and stylish design.

The frames are crafted from a high-grade Italian cellulose acetate, and each frame is individually hand-polished and assembled. German-engineered 5-barrel hinges and screws are used to retain smooth movement for years to come, and a wire core extends from hinges to support temple shape.
